Patriots split preseason practice games

Despite weeks of afternoon showers, Mother Nature held off the rain just long enough for the Chilton Christian Patriots to wrap up a 12-7 win over the Linsay Lane Lions on Friday night.
In a three-team preseason jamboree, the homestanding Patriots lost in Game 1 of the night against the Cullman Christian Acadmey Lions, 18-0.
The Patriot offense had a tough time gaining yardage against a stingy Lion defense, whie the Lion offense scored on three of its four possessions en route to the win.
Game 2 of the night matched the Cullman Christian Academy Lions against the Linsay Lane Lions in a game that was nip and tuck through out the game, but a late drive by the Cullman Lions would be enough for a 21-12 win over Linsay.
A Jewel Mitchell fumble recovery on the Linsay 1-yard line set up the Patriots with a first-and-goal, and Cain Killingsworth scored one play later to give the Patriots an early 6-0 lead.
Facing a fourth-and-20 from their own 20-yard line, a fake punt by the Lions resulted in a touchdown and a 7-6 lead late in the first quarter.
With just more than two minutes to play, CCA quarterback Zack Pittman found Trent Ray for a Patriot touchdown to seal the victory for Chilton Christian.
CCA will kick off the regular season next Friday night at Clay County.
