JHS baseball drops first three games
From staff reports
Jemison baseball lost its first three games of the season in disappointing fashion.
First, the Panthers blew a 6-0 lead going into the fourth inning on Feb. 17 and fell at West Blocton, 12-6.
In fact, Jemison starting pitcher Zak Kaylor had a no-hitter through three innings—before the wheels came off and Kaylor suffered the loss.
Cruz Martinez was 2-for-4 with two doubles at the plate, and Jackson Mims was 2-for-4 with a double and a home run.
Then, Jemison fell, 10-3, to Northridge on Feb. 20 at Chilton County.
Jacob Chapman led off the game with a double, stole third base and scored when a pick off attempt got by the third baseman.
Donny Eslinger scored on a Mims single in the third inning, but Jemison wouldn’t score again until a Patrick Sims hit scored Chapman in the seventh inning.
Later in the day, Jemison and pitcher Alex Campbell fell to CCHS, 11-1, by allowing seven runs in the bottom of the sixth inning.
Jemison scored in the second inning on three consecutive hits by Scott Clements, Martinez and Campbell.
