The man killed in a three-vehicle wreck Thursday night in north Clanton was identified as Michael Dewayne Jarvis, 30, of Jemison.
Jarvis was thrown from a motorcycle after the bike struck the rear of a northbound SUV, which was apparently slowing to stop near Bent Creek Apartments on Highway 31, Clanton Police officials said. Then the victim was struck by a southbound pickup truck.
Jarvis was pronounced dead on the scene at 5:55 p.m., Chilton County Deputy Coroner Awlahjaday Agee confirmed.
“The family has the condolences of the coroner’s office. They will be in our thoughts and prayers,” Agee said Friday.
There were no other injuries. The SUV and the pickup sustained only minor damage, officials said.
Highway 31 was shut down from shortly after the time of the wreck to shortly before 8 p.m.
Clanton Fire Department, Clanton Police and Angel Ambulance responded to the scene about 5:30 p.m.
